DC United Sign Veteran Midfielder Marcelo Saragosa

WASHINGTON – D.C. United have signed midfielder Marcelo Saragosa, whoreturns to MLS after two seasons in Azerbaijan. The 30-year-old Brazilian will be playing for his fourth MLS club. He playedin 116 games with the Los Angeles Galaxy, FC Dallas and Chivas USA from 2004-10. Saragosa left MLS following the 2010 season to play in the Azerbaijan firstdivision, first with FC Absheron and then with Ravan Baku. United announced the signing Monday. Union Release Goalkeeper Faryd Mondragon

CHESTER, Pa. – The Philadelphia Union have released goalie FarydMondragon so he can return to his native Columbia and play for Deportivo Cali. The Union announced the move Monday. The 40-year-old Mondragon wasPhiladelphia’s team captain. Mondragon signed with the Union on Jan. 20, 2011 on a free transfer from FCCologne of the German Bundesliga and immediately helped transform the Union intoone of the league’s top defensive units in 2011. Union Trade Le Toux to Whitecaps

CHESTER, Pa. – The Philadelphia Union have traded Sebastien Le Toux tothe Vancouver Whitecaps in exchange for allocation money. Per MLS and club policies, the terms of Tuesday’s trade were not disclosed. Le Toux was selected by the Union in the 2009 MLS expansion draft andquickly became the most productive offensive player on the team, scoring 14goals with 11 assists in 2010. Timbers Sign Scottish Forward Kris Boyd
