CHESTER, Pa. – The Philadelphia Union have released goalie FarydMondragon so he can return to his native Columbia and play for Deportivo Cali. The Union announced the move Monday. The 40-year-old Mondragon wasPhiladelphia’s team captain. Mondragon signed with the Union on Jan. 20, 2011 on a free transfer from FCCologne of the German Bundesliga and immediately helped transform the Union intoone of the league’s top defensive units in 2011. Lindpere was the team’s 2010 most valuable player. He started afranchise-record 34 regular season games this past season, a franchise record. Red Bulls general manager Erik Soler said the team wanted to reward Lindpereto recognize his efforts. Lindpere had played in Norway before joining the Red Bulls in March 2010. CHESTER, Pa. – The Philadelphia Union have traded Sebastien Le Toux tothe Vancouver Whitecaps in exchange for allocation money. Per MLS and club policies, the terms of Tuesday’s trade were not disclosed. Le Toux was selected by the Union in the 2009 MLS expansion draft andquickly became the most productive offensive player on the team, scoring 14goals with 11 assists in 2010. Timbers general manager Gavin Wilkinson announced the signing of the Irvine,Scotland, native on Monday. Terms of the deal were not released.
